Session Type: Symposium
We have been called to imagine new ways of thinking about and engaging in educational processes that will both dismantle racial injustice and construct new ways of learning. One way to construct such educational possibilities is to focus our work on structures, like educational partnerships, that are rooted in equity and responsiveness. Because of the potential of educational partnerships to serve as exemplars of equity-focused systems of education, the objective of the proposed symposium is to survey the current landscape of scholarship in school-university partnerships (SUPs). The body of work used in this endeavor will be the chapters and commentaries from the forthcoming Cambridge Handbook of School-University Partnerships.
Historical and Conceptual Foundations of SUPs (School-University Partnerships) for Democracy, Student Learning, and Racial Equity - Morgan Faison, University of Georgia; Jane E. Neapolitan, Towson University
Inquiry, Research, Innovation, and Leadership in School-University Partnerships - Diane Yendol-Hoppey, University of North Florida; Jori S. Beck, College of William & Mary
Funding, Policy, Politics, and Community Engagement in School-University Partnerships - JoAnne Ferrara, Manhattanville College; Kathleen Provinzano, Binghamton University - SUNY; Logan Rutten, University of North Dakota
Being a Teacher in an SUP and Investigating SUPs Beyond the Continental American Context - Sonia E. Janis, University of Georgia; Janna Dresden, University of Georgia
