Session Type: Symposium
Leadership learning is a compelling activity to a wide range of stakeholders, yet often loosely discussed in educational discourses. Phrases such as ‘leadership’ and ‘liberation’ are flexible tropes that can contain various politics, values, and representations. This symposium will gather scholars whose work is critically engaged with the intersection of Black Male Initiatives (BMI’s) and leadership learning. This symposium will explore the politics that shape leadership education across the educational ecosystem of collegiate Black men. These ecosystems include but are not limited to institutions of higher education, non-profits, public agencies and even corporations. This symposium will explore the necessary politics and pedagogies to be centered for 21st century Black men leaders to tackle modern problems.
