Session Type: Symposium
In this symposium we seek to examine the marginalization of students in Caribbean contexts, and how some students are placed at an academic disadvantage by this marginalization. Parallel with the AERA 2024 theme “Dismantling Racial Injustice and Constructing Educational Possibilities: A Call to Action'', and using Ainscow’s (2020) framework for promoting inclusion and equity, which highlights the use of evidence in addressing concerns about access and equity within education systems, RISE Caribbean examines existing circumstances, and provides an anatomized presentation of some of the factors that impact access to education in the region and how this can be utilized to inform refinements that are beneficial to all groups.
