Session Type: Demonstration/Performance
This session models the method of critical storytelling as a form of structured inquiry designed to support educators’ ongoing professional growth. After learning specifics about the storytelling process, and listening to stories from session facilitators, participants will have the opportunity to engage in the critical storytelling experience themselves. By reflecting on stories of learning in relation to stories of teaching through a metaphorical archeological dive, participants will explore the themes of their own educational trajectories and the connections between their learner and educator stories. This session illuminates critical storytelling as a method that helps to create more equitable, inclusive, and engaging environments for learning and teaching. The critical storytelling method is intended for educators at all levels and teaching contexts.
