An AERA SIG Community of Practice: Collective Inquiry on Timely Issues Affecting Family-School-Community Stakeholders

Abstract

In Fall 2022, the Family, School, Community Partnerships SIG initiated a virtual Community of Practice (CoP) for members to meet monthly to discuss pressing issues, support each other’s scholarship and practice, and build community across a variety of family engagement subfields. In this session, we will describe the evolution and enactment of this group, situating it within the literature on CoPs; share one example of a topic we have explored together; and engage in small-group, collective inquiry, experiencing together the benefits of a cross-disciplinary CoP. We will conclude by debriefing as a larger group and planning for the next phase of this promising, well-received initiative.
