Session Type: Business Meeting
Classroom observation systems are widely used in US public education for the purpose of providing direct information on teaching in order to change or improve it. During our SIG Business Meeting, we will discuss who we are as a classroom observation SIG and the future of the SIG with an emphasis on transforming teaching and learning, especially in marginalized communities. We will discuss formative interpretations and uses of information from observation measures must be central (rather than an afterthought) to their conception, development, appraisal, and dissemination. Our Business Meeting brings together researchers and educators with varied expertise and a common commitment to develop and validate observation systems that support teachers and generate instructional change.
