This session promises a stimulating dialogue on the research methodologies employed by our panelists to address disparities in K-12 education to include collaborations with teachers, students, and statewide policymakers. Dr. Henfield, drawing on his expertise in leadership and policy, will provide insights into how the Institute for Racial Justice at Loyola University Chicago is partnering with the Illinois State Board of Education. Dr. Simmons, renowned for her leadership in social and emotional learning (SEL) and educational equity, will delve into her scholarship/strategies for supporting educators to promote emotional well-being and create spaces of belonging and liberation. Dr. Alexander, who specializes in data science and math education, will present his work from his lab, the Quantitative Histories Workshop at Howard University.
