Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
Educational research plays an important role in improving education for all; however, there is a gap between the practicality of research and how practitioners can utilize the implications. Teachers have the opportunity to apply research findings within their classroom, but this is only possible if researchers and educational leaders are helping make research accessible, usable, and applicable. This session aims to provide a space for critical discussion about how research can be disseminated thoughtfully, and how to overcome barriers when faced with external pressure from funders or other organizational leaders. This panel consists of a wide variety of school researchers and evaluators to contribute to this conversation and be representative of Division H’s four research strands: Assessment, Evaluation, Accountability, and Research in Schools. Panelists will talk about their personal experience of disseminating their work in meaningful ways for practitioners and/or how they incorporated practitioners into their research/evaluation process to develop usable and accessible implications.
