Abstract

Pursuing and achieving an advanced degree is a tremendous accomplishment; however, the path is commonly referred to as difficult, strenuous, and even draining. In fact, graduate students encounter many challenges throughout their early careers, and while some are easily detectable, many remain hidden and unexpected. For instance, less noticeable challenges relating to funding, academia versus industry, imposter syndrome, and maintaining a healthy personal life are less commonly discussed. Considering the prominent yet under-told encounters with hidden curricula, it is necessary to create a space where graduate students can converse about how they navigate their experiences.
