Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
As K-12 schools continue to be made the battleground for control over policies and practices that determine what and
how students will learn, educators continue to show up, day in and day out, and teach. And while education researchers
continue to develop ways to challenge racial and other forms of injustice, educators of multiply-marginalized identities
continue to face discrimination, isolation, and the pressures of push-out. This session asks five public school teachers in
Philadelphia, PA what they need and want from the education research community. Our conversation asks teachers to
share how they are dismantling injustice and dreaming towards educational possibilities, and what their call to action is
for us as researchers, graduate students, and teacher educators.
