Session Type: Reception
This meet-up seeks to bring together researchers from across disciplines who are contemplating how to support teachers and students in becoming data-literate citizens in an increasingly data-infused world. In the last few years, the number of sessions presented on data science education research at AERA has grown consistently, and the community is increasingly looking for a place to connect across the field. Data science is no longer something that is or should be taught only in STEM degree programs, but is increasingly a transdisciplinary topic that spans grade levels and content areas. Researchers across the data science education field need a place to connect, share research, and build the community. This meet up is a first step towards building a community to raise awareness of the research already being done and create cohesion around the goals of the data science education field and directions of future research. During this lunch meeting attendees will discuss next steps for data science and data literacy education at AERA.
