Thu, April 24, 8:00 to 9:30am MDT (8:00 to 9:30am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

Black faculty must constantly resist racism, sexism, workplace bullying (WPB), and organizational oppression. Concurrently, many Blacks are strengthening ancestral knowledge (AK) which may minimize racial battle fatigue. Therefore, I gathered data to measure the relationship between resilience, AK, and Black faculty perception’s of WPB. Question 1: What is the relationship between resilience and AK? Question 2: What is the relationship between the perception of WPB and the resilience of Black faculty as moderated by their AK?. First, a correlation confirmed a direct and statistically significant relationship between Black faculty resilience and AK at the p.< .01 level. Second, a multiple regression confirmed an inverse and statistically significant relationship between resilience and the perception of WPB when moderated by AK.
