Fri, April 25, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 610

Abstract

In today's evolving educational landscape, schools form cross-sector partnerships with other sectors to drive changes. Broker teachers, act as intermediaries, introduce innovative practices and foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders. The research focuses on Hong Kong’s secondary schools and employs the Zaltman Metaphor Elicitation Technique to understand broker teachers’ evolving roles and perceptions. Findings indicate that broker teachers perform dynamic roles as connectors, coordinators, and facilitators, adapting these roles to meet shifting expectations from fellow teachers, school leaders, and external partners. The study contributes to the broader understanding of educational brokerage, highlighting the complexities and challenges of brokering and emphasizing the need for targeted teacher training programs to equip broker teachers with the skills necessary to navigate these multifaceted roles effectively.
