Abstract

This study uses comparative group analysis of Black girls to compare the disciplinary outcomes of Black girls with disabilities compared to their non-disabled peers. We found higher likelihoods of Black girls with disabilities to experience exclusionary discipline compared to Black girls without disabilities across all types of exclusionary discipline (in school suspensions, out of school suspension, expulsion), for all three years studied. This is significant for all who want equity for minoritized students, especially those interested in race, gender and disability studies.
