Abstract

This paper examines the “death of the author” phenomenon in educational technology, focusing on its impacts on accountability and biases in learning environments. Despite the belief in technology’s neutrality, it inherently reflects its creators’ values and beliefs. The “death of the author” leads to a lack of accountability, allowing creators to avoid scrutiny, perpetuating hidden biases and upholding systemic inequalities in education. I emphasize recognizing human agency behind technology through scholarly discourse. This critique questions technology’s impartiality and advocates for accountable development practices. By offering an insightful perspective, this paper seeks to contribute to the discussion on the complex interaction between technology and education, highlighting the ethical necessity of promoting educational equity in technological innovation.
