Abstract

This case study explores the perceptions of six early childhood teachers regarding AI and its application in early childhood education. Researchers conducted individual interviews. The interview data revealed four key themes: Perceiving AI as a tool; Feelings about AI; AI’s roles in education; and roadblocks/benefits of using AI. The findings indicate that all teachers believe AI could be useful in education, particularly for learning enhancement and classroom management. However, some teachers raised concerns about the need for adequate AI training and the potential for AI to make teachers obsolete. When discussing the use of AI in early childhood education, all teachers emphasized the importance of human interactions and expressed a preference for traditional learning methods involving peer interactions and play.
