Abstract

This study investigated the challenges of sustainability in student wellbeing in Qatar, emphasizing educational, societal, and cultural challenges. Using Systems Thinking as a framework, the study analyzed data from focus groups to identify complex relationships among the three domains. Educational challenges included systemic deficiencies, inadequate curricula, and a lack of opportunities for critical and creative thinking. Societal challenges encompassed stereotyping, negative social phenomena, and insufficient familial support. Cultural challenges highlighted identity, values, and the influence of a rentier mindset. The findings portayed a fragmented educational system, hindered by a lack of unified vision and professional development opportunities, alongside societal constraints that impede intellectual development. A comprehensive approach that integrates educational reforms, societal support, and cultural preservation is needed.
