Abstract

In the current neoliberal governance of schooling saturated by dichotomies, isolations, and categorizations, there is an urgent need to draw attention to the multisensorial nature of the body as intimately connected to the environment, advancing innovative research methodologies that embrace embodied praxis in schools with a focus on creativity, well-being, social justice, and sustainable lifestyles. Framed by intersectionality and interconnectivity as an embodied framework useful for uplifting marginalized voices, this methodological paper discusses how Participatory Walking Methodologies (PWM) with and for youth from historically marginalized groups can offer innovative research tools, providing youth with embodied practices that can support them in actively observing, researching, problematizing, expressing, and making connections involving health, well-being, arts, spirituality, food, nutrition, movement, and sustainable lifestyles.
