Abstract

This study explores the impact of AI technology on mathematics preservice teachers' (PSTs’) professional noticing skills and teaching practices. Findings reveal that AI enhances PSTs' ability to recognize diverse student needs, develop tailored support plans, and adapt teaching strategies. PSTs perceive AI as a valuable tool for generating new ideas and insights, though challenges like prompt specificity and overreliance on AI exist. Advantages include efficiency, user-friendliness, and idea generation capabilities. PSTs foresee AI's continued growth, emphasizing the need for strategic implementation and a balanced approach with traditional methods. The study underscores AI's potential to transform mathematics education, necessitating ongoing professional development and ethical considerations for effective integration.
