Fri, April 25, 9:50 to 11:20am MDT (9:50 to 11:20am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 2-3

Abstract

Family involvement and engagement at school are each associated with student outcomes, however, few studies have examined cultural considerations at school associated with family involvement at school. This study examines a measure of school cultural congruity that aims to provide a foundation for future research exploring cultural factors associated with family engagement at school. The School Cultural Congruity Scale (SCCS) was developed to provide unique insights into school climate, considering cultural and contextual factors related to family and student engagement, as well as student outcomes. The primary goal of the present study is to validate the SCCS across international contexts for assessing cultural congruity from parents' perspectives and examining cultural alignment between home and schools.
