Abstract

This paper is based on an action research study that investigates the ways in which creative teaching strategies for English language learners in an EFL context could support their development of SDG literacy, global awareness, and community engagement. Over the course of a semester, 17 students from a Taiwanese college English class participated in the research. Pre- and post-course questionnaires, student-made SDG digital movies, Ibrahim's (2010) Community-Based Learning Scale, and reflection journals are some of the data sources. Results show the transforming learning experiences and results of the students. This study presents practical methods that help English language learners become more socially conscious and proficient speakers of the language while preparing them for global problems.
