Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly developing field that may be one way to support teacher development. AI needs further analysis to determine the possibilities and pitfalls for educational research and practice. Therefore, the researchers addressed the question, how, if at all, do PK-12 teachers modify AI-generated lesson plans to best fit their context? And how can AI support teacher efficiency and/or the critical aspects of lesson planning? AI tools could explain what to do (e.g., motivate students, group students, define for students), but not how to do it. Teachers found it valuable for generating ideas, creating resources, and acknowledged it saves time when used effectively. They emphasized the importance of ensuring alignment with curriculum and meeting student needs.
