Abstract

This study centers the voices of Black teachers working in a large urban district who shared their perspectives on the districts’ coaching model and supervision practices they experienced or wished to experience that would be culturally responsive. Eisner’s research method of educational criticism and connoisseurship was utilized to conduct the research. Although three themes emerged in the study, for this paper, we will focus on one theme: safety.
