Abstract

Germany’s dual VET system has been criticized for insufficient cooperation among vocational schools, companies, and inter-company training centers, limiting its potential to integrate workplace learning into formal education. Despite the topic’s importance, recent research on Learning Location Cooperation (LLC) has been sparse. This study fills the existing research gap by exploring contemporary LLC dynamics through stakeholders’ perceptions on cooperation strategies, relationships, pedagogical demands, and wishes. Using a qualitative approach, 20 semi-structured interviews with vocational teachers, company trainers, inter- company trainers, and apprentices were conducted. Findings reveal similarities and differences in perceptions, identify success factors, and propose ideas to enhance LLC. The study’s implications extend globally, offering valuable suggestions for VET systems worldwide to develop a skilled workforce.
