Social-Emotional Learning and the Portrait of the Graduate in Out-of-School-Time Programs: Booster Rocket

Fri, April 25, 3:20 to 4:50pm MDT (3:20 to 4:50pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 2-3

Abstract

Social and emotional skill development supports learning, health, relationships, and well-being. Out-of-school-time (OST) programs are
essential for our most at risk students. By developing a Portrait of the Graduate (PoG) for our OST program, we achieved stakeholder
consensus on the academic skills, social and emotional skills, and civic characteristics we desire as outcomes for all our scholars, and have a blueprint for integrating SEL in our academic, athletic, and enrichment programming. The shared vision represented by the PoG is the "booster rocket" to reimagining an SEL aligned OST program.
