Fri, April 25, 9:50 to 11:20am MDT (9:50 to 11:20am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 705

Abstract

Mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realizes their own abilities and can cope with the normal stresses of life. These individuals are productive in their work, life, and communities. These people can manage their mental health challenges which can range from high to low. Research demonstrates a need for an expansion of mental health literacy and mental health support in K-12 schools, drawing attention to the role of educators in these initiatives. Schools are in a position to address today’s mental health crisis among members of the education community. In a study of 180 school teachers, nearly 50% scored about the threshold for depression and correlated their mental health to the demand of their job.
