The significance of the study lies in its potential to inform policy discussions and practices surrounding accreditation, particularly in light of recent legislative actions impacting accreditation processes. By addressing the financial implications and racialized outcomes of accreditation policies, the research aims to contribute to an equitable and transparent accreditation process for HBCUs and other mission diverse institutions.
