Abstract

A newly developed educational leadership program is redesigned to include field experiences embedded into each course to ensure a direct application of PSEL standard content into instructional leadership actions. The intended impact is to build confidence in instructional leadership practices for emergent leaders in their first leadership positions.
Our theory of action states that:
If each course design is a deep and purposeful investigation into each PSEL standard which links directly to relevant and applicable leadership actions and decisions, THEN program graduates will demonstrate higher-level skills as instructional leaders in their first leadership position.
This paper seeks to invite feedback on both the theory of action and tools to measure its impact on the development of instructional leaders.
