Abstract

Rooted in AsianCrit, three Asian/Asian American scholars explored how Asian American high school students in New York City navigate a curriculum that marginalizes their experiences. The students' desire for Asian American studies shapes their understanding of identity, activism, and solidarity. The scholars emphasize the need for curriculum development and teacher training, involving young people, families, and community groups. This study underscores the urgency of inclusive curricula that honor Asian American diversity and political struggles, fostering repair and healing for a more equitable society. Solidarity among diverse communities is essential for advancing educational reforms that benefit both students and teachers.
