Abstract

Inspired by the theme of AERA2025, we propose that minority women are key to enabling a holistic repair for those who have suffered harm, loss and trauma. Our project is an international comparative exploration, which problematizes the concepts of marginalisation and minority from the perceptions of women in culturally diverse communities. Their leadership context and practice inform our findings on how women continue to work in liminal spaces, outside formal classrooms and education systems, to transform educational opportunities for diasporic communities. Through a life history methodology, key findings show how women position themselves, the tension of identity against deficit discourses, and the key features of leadership practice which is demonstrated in the work of these women.
