Abstract

Subjective well-being (SWB), as an intrinsic psychological need of adolescents, is crucial to their personal development. Based on the China education panel survey (CEPS) data, this study theoretically analyzes and empirically examines the impact of parental educational attainment (PEA) on offspring SWB, along with the underlying mechanisms. The results indicate a significant positive correlation between PEA and offspring SWB, which remains robust after a series of robustness tests. Heterogeneity tests reveal significant differences in this impact across gender and household registration types. Additionally, parental relationships (PR) and household economic conditions (HEC) serve as mediating factors in the relationship between PEA and offspring SWB. This study provides valuable policy insights for families aiming to enhance the SWB of their children.https://convention2.allacademic.com/images/icons/popup_closex_button.gif
