Leave Us Be: Examining the Racialized, Gendered Experiences of Black Women Faculty

Wed, April 23, 12:40 to 2:10pm MDT (12:40 to 2:10pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

Although the racialized gendered experiences of Black women faculty in higher education have been acknowledged, the depth of their experiences in Colleges of Education at PWIs has been underrepresented. Using a qualitative case study through the lens of a critical race feminist framework, the results will provide concrete ways Colleges of Education at PWIs can attract, support, and retain BWF thus providing a safe space for them to grow, thrive and educate unabashedly. This study aims to shed light on their specific experiences so that Colleges of Education can better support Black women.
