Abstract

This research is focused on understanding strategic application behaviors among historically underrepresented groups in legal education. Specifically, it explores the role of targeted interventions in driving strategic behaviors, identifies factors that influence application strategies, and investigates the impact of applying early on admission outcomes. Findings suggest that applying early increases the likelihood of law school admission and that interventions addressing barriers faced by underrepresented groups can drive strategic behaviors. However, life circumstances beyond intervention can limit the ability to employ effective strategies. The study underscores the importance of targeted intervention for underrepresented groups seeking access to graduate and professional school, highlighting the role of pathway programs in enhancing access.
