Fri, April 25, 11:40am to 1:10pm MDT (11:40am to 1:10pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of participation in a virtual STEAM program on girls' sense of belonging and identity formation within the STEAM community. We will explore how these programs shape participants' perceptions of themselves as STEAM learners and influencers, and whether they foster a stronger desire to pursue STEAM careers. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, through surveys to gather data from participants who have engaged in a Project Scientist virtual STEAM program. By understanding the impact of these programs on identity formation and sense of belonging in STEM fields, we can inform the development of more effective learning experiences for girls that promote inclusivity, diversity, and career readiness.
