Embodied Understandings of Media, Selves, and Image in Antiracist Teacher Education

Thu, April 24, 9:50 to 11:20am MDT (9:50 to 11:20am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 108

Abstract

We are three scholars with commitments to anti-racist teaching in schools and higher education. As part of our collaboration, we have been studying how to effectively choose and integrate critical media practices that are explicitly anti-racist. We have also been exploring our personal and identity commitments to this work through self-study methodologies. Our research question for this study was: What does collaborative analysis of narratives of experiences with racism and critical media reveal that will assist us in our shared work with developing instructional practices?
