Abstract

In this study, we propose a taxonomy that integrates existing personalized learning (PL) frameworks into a cohesive system, focusing on capturing various components of PL that promote inclusion for students with diverse learning needs. By analyzing widely accepted PL definitions from research, policy, and practice documents, we categorized PL components based on theoretical linkages and highlighted the complex interplays among factors that indicate support for learners, educators, and school systems. Our taxonomy provides a holistic understanding of PL, offering researchers, practitioners, and policymakers a common language regarding PL implementation. This taxonomy has significant implications for enhancing the coherence of PL implementation, ensuring that educational practices align with theoretical and practical insights to better meet the needs of diverse learners.
