Abstract

This study explored K-12 teachers' perceptions of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the classroom and their preparedness for AI integration. Based on data from in-service teachers at a Southern University, findings reveal varying levels of AI adoption, from enthusiasm among newer teachers to reservations among more experienced ones, indicating a need for comprehensive AI training. The study discusses AI's implications for personalized learning, administrative efficiency, and necessary professional development. It highlights the need for focused training to equip educators with the skills to integrate AI effectively, enhancing teaching and learning. The paper concludes with a professional development plan to help teachers better prepare for applying AI technology in their practice.
