Promoting AI Literacy in Writing Instruction: Lessons from Research with PapyrusAI

Abstract

For the past two years, with funding from the National Science Foundation and the California Education Learning Lab, we have developed and implemented an AI-powered writing coach, PapyrusAI, in K-12 and college English language arts and writing classrooms. This presentation introduces the platform, summarizes our research on its use, and synthesizes lessons learned on how to best develop students' AI literacy for critical, reflective use of generative tools to support writing.
