Sat, April 26, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 711

Abstract

This paper explores the significance of digital activism and civic engagement among young journalists in Gaza and the diaspora. It highlights the struggles of Palestinians facing oppression and shows the important role of on-the-ground youth journalists in Gaza and Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) encampments in solidarity and anti-genocide protests. By examining the intersections of digital civic engagements and history, this paper underscores the power of digital activism in amplifying marginalized voices. This paper aligns with the Teaching History SIG’s goals by integrating historical perspectives into contemporary education, enhancing students' understanding of history, and promoting critical thinking through digital activism.
