Abstract

This collective case study explored the perceptions and experiences of department chairs (chairs) who participated in a Chair Mentoring Program (CMP) of how their participation in the program affected their perceptions of the importance of the use of data to support equity-minded decision making within their department. In addition, the study was interested in how the chairs perceived their knowledge of equity-minded decision making was advanced due to their participation in the CMP. For purposes of this work, equity-minded leadership is perceived to be leaders who recognize there are differences in backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, and they are assets to be affirmed and leveraged as part of that which defines success.
