Sat, April 26, 5:10 to 6:40pm MDT (5:10 to 6:40pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 4

Abstract

Given the vital role curiosity plays in university students’ educational experience, the current scant research on curiosity and university students requires attention. To begin to address this, an exploration of university students’ awareness and identification of curiosity within their university class experiences is required. This present study explores how curiosity, across the multiple dimensions defined by Kashdan et al. (2020), is identified by university undergraduate students representing a broad spectrum of academic disciplines. The findings inform both students’ engagement of curiosity within their studies and instructors’ pedagogical strategies to open space to enhance the academic experience of university students.

Key Words: Curiosity, student motivation, affective learning, 21st century skills
