Abstract

This study examines the impact of Generative AI (GenAI) integration on K-12 English teachers' TPACK (Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge) development. Under the TPACK framework, the research aims to understand how GenAI influences teachers' competencies and instructional practices. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from 135 Chinese K-12 English teachers through surveys and semi-structured interviews. Results indicate that higher TPACK levels correlate with effective GenAI use, enhancing teaching innovation and professional growth (TPACK score mean= 4.21; GenAI effectiveness score mean= 4.37). The study contributes to the field by highlighting the importance of TK, TCK, and TPK in GenAI integration, providing insights for teacher training programs, policymaking, and advancing the strategic use of GenAI in education.
