The appropriate role and ultimate utility of artificial intelligence (AI) in education is the subject of ongoing academic debate. The current study explores the use of a generative AI model to select thresholds for high and low learning time groups for a computer-adaptive early learning intervention. Raw time and performance data from ten previously completed studies was provided to an AI model which was prompted to identify possible learning time cutoffs creating significant and meaningful separation between groups. The resulting learning time criteria were assessed and compared to those used in the previously completed studies.
