Sat, April 26, 3:20 to 4:50pm MDT (3:20 to 4:50pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 608

Abstract

This study investigated the effects of using Google Teachable Machine as a cognitive tool in a Project-based Learning (PjBL) environment to achieve dual functions of helping students develop practical knowledge of art skill development as well as AI concepts simultaneously. A cohort of teacher cadets participated in the study. In completing a project to train an AI model to classify children’s drawings in three stages of art skill development, the teacher cadets developed substantial level of AI concepts, practical skills of using AI and Machine Learning, and applicable knowledge of three stages of art skill development. The results demonstrate the potential of integrating AI tools into educational curricula to achieve multiple learning objectives efficiently.
