There is a worldwide call for changes in education to address ongoing climate and environmental issues. However, little attention is paid to teacher educators - those who teach the teachers - in supporting environmental and climate change education efforts. As a collective of community members, educators, and researchers, we designed educative curriculum materials to support teacher educators in integrating climate literacy in pre-service teacher education courses. Using design-based research, we explain our design heuristics and the educative features of a model instructional unit created to support teacher educator learning. The purpose of this paper is to make visible the design work needed to integrate climate literacy in teacher education.
