Abstract

Based on the literature review and emotional regulation theory and experience avoidance theory, this study explores the influence of stressful life events on the emotional eating of college students during the COVID-19 pandemic and its mechanism and proposes the research hypothesis that alexithymia and experience avoidance play a role of chain mediation in the influence of stressful life events and emotional eating of college students. To validate the study hypothesis, This study examined 464 college students using the adolescent self-rated Life Events Checklist, the Toronto alexithymia Scale, the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire II, and the Emotional Diet Scale. The research results effectively verify the research hypothesis proposed in this paper, and put forward corresponding suggestions based on these results.
