Sun, April 27, 8:00 to 9:30am MDT (8:00 to 9:30am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 2-3

Abstract

Mental illness is a common disability in the Philippines, and educators are known to experience depression or anxiety when conducting or teaching research. This study utilized transcendental phenomenology in an exploratory sequential mixed methods approach to develop the first contextual scale in the Philippines that measures research anxiety (RA) levels of Filipino high school teachers. The scale items were based on thematic analysis of interview responses and were subjected to validity and reliability tests and factor analysis, adhering to the rigors of instrument development. The results from the Research Anxiety Scale for Filipino Teachers (RAS-FiT) may be utilized to design intervention programs to alleviate RA toward greater research productivity among 21st century teachers.
