Abstract

Through multiple case studies in the Northeast United States, follow-up qualitative investigations, and an external validity study, educators share their experiences and perspectives on navigating the impacts of the opioid epidemic in their schools. Grounded in the voices of the educator, the study examines the impact of the opioid epidemic on U.S. schools, encompassing its history, legislative responses, trends, and implications for students and educators. Drawing from pre and post-pandemic investigations spanning from 2017-2023, the study reveals the wide-ranging effects of opioid exposure on children's lives and its impacts on educators. The research advocates for comprehensive strategies, focusing on solutions and school improvements, and involves collaboration among stakeholders to address these issues effectively.
