Abstract

The Latiné population represents the largest racialized population in the United States (U.S.), yet remains significantly underrepresented in higher education institutions (HEIs). While existing research highlight challenges faced by Latiné students in their higher education journey, positive aspects have also been identified that these students bring with them to overcome these obstacles. This qualitative study aimed at furthering our understanding of the experiences of 21 low-income Latiné college students at PWIs with the focus on the sources of support they employ to navigate the complexities of HEIs and their personal lives. By exploring these dynamics, the study seeks to provide insight into the support mechanisms that are effective for Latiné students in HEIs.
