Measure of Remedy, Mapping of Repair: An Organizational Adaptation Strategy Survey for Higher Education (Poster 30)

Sat, April 26, 3:20 to 4:50pm MDT (3:20 to 4:50pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Exhibit Hall Level, Exhibit Hall F - Poster Session

Abstract

This paper proposes a methodology and customizable instrument for the measurement of organizational adaptation in higher education. The instrument offers administrators and researchers a snapshot of how their organization has changed. To create the Organizational Adaptation Assessment Survey, this paper builds from Author’s (2021) work that proposed a typology of organizational adaptation strategies. These strategies are: decentralization, generalization, specialization, formalization, and inaction. The instrument can be tailored to the needs of any unit, program, or institution. The dire need for remedy and repair in higher education across multiple systems simultaneously requires new ways to understand and evaluate organizational change. This paper provides a significant contribution to applied and theoretical change literature.
